Tips for Teeth Whitenening from
WholeLife Dentistry in Plantation, FL

It’s easier than ever to achieve the white smile you have always dreamed about. Professional teeth whitening services produce amazing results that are quicker than over-the-counter at home alternatives. Patients will begin to see results after their first session. Dr. Vallejo is proud to offer both in-office whitening and professional take home trays to all his patients in Plantation.

Tooth whitening helps remove stains and discoloration of the teeth. This dental cosmetic treatment is very popular because of the way it drastically improves the esthetics of a person’s smile.

What causes tooth stains?

The outer layer of teeth is called the enamel, i’s color is determined by reflection of light along with the layer of dentin located below it. Genetics plays a large part in the color of your teeth. The thickness of your enamel will dictate how much of the color of the dentin shows through.

Tooth enamel has pores that can absorb stains. Some of the most common reasons for stained teeth are the consumption of dark colored liquids, tobacco use, and improper daily oral hygiene. Teeth will also become discolored and less bright with age.

Tooth whitening is a proven, effect method to get rid of surface stains on the enamel.

Dr. Vallejo will meet with you to look at your teeth and come up with a treatment plan that works best for your individual situation. You may end up with in-office whitening, an at home tray system or a combination of the two.

In-office whitening

Dr. Vallejo will apply a substance that protects the gums around the teeth. The whitening agent will then be placed on the teeth. A special light is used to activate the whitening agent. Appointments typically take an hour and most patients require one to three visits.

Dr. Vallejo will take impressions of your teeth to fabricate custom whitening trays for you to take and use at home. You will be instructed on how to apply the whitening agent, what time of day to wear the trays and how long you should have them on. At-home whitening kits are also great to extend the life of the whitening after an in-office treatment.

If you are tired of your discolored teeth, call today and set up an appointment to learn more about how teeth whitening can brighten your smile and have you feeling more confident.
